The 70th Armor Regiment is an armored (tank) unit of the United States Army. It was constituted as the 70th Tank Battalion in July 1940, an independent tank battalion intended to provide close support to infantry units
The United States Army 70th Armor Regiment Unit Crest ("Strike Swiftly") is a unique insignia, officially called a Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI). Its design comes from the unit's coat of arms. All assigned personnel wear it on the green service uniform coat's shoulder loops (centered, base toward the sleeve), except certain senior ranks. Enlisted personnel do not wear it on the Class A uniform; officers wear it centered on the shoulder loops, below their rank insignia.
